Online Use Cases

Last updated 3 years ago

There's currently a wide array of online use cases where tokenproof would add value to the ecosystem. Most of the scams in our current space are taking place online, where users are connecting their wallet to a dApp and losing their valuable tokens.

With further adoption of NFTs, malicious actors will grow as well. Tokenproof will allow individuals to authenticate their ownership of tokens without the need to physically or digitally interact with the wallet in which those tokens are held.

Tokenproof can be easily implemented by online verifiers with just a few lines of code, while the user will only have to scan a QR code with his or her tokenproof mobile wallet in order to prove ownership of their tokens.

Examples

Authenticating into a Token-Gated Website

Our technology can be used to authenticate a user into a token-gated site, where instead of connecting their Ethereum wallet and signing a message, they can easily log in using tokenproof.

This could apply to traditional websites, or web3 platforms such as Decentraland, Sandbox, and other applications where the user only wants to log in and not necessarily transact at the blockchain level.

Authenticating into a Discord Server

It is common to have to prove token ownership in a Discord Server in order to allow access to certain token-gated channels, as well as setting appropriate user roles. Unfortunately, every time an individual wishes to authenticate with a Discord Server, they need to perform the interaction with the wallet where the tokens are held, which may translate into a physical interaction if using a hardware wallet.

Tokenproof enables the user to keep hardware wallets stored and physically locked away, while also providing the ability to safely prove ownership of tokens in order to access token-gated benefits within the Discord server.

Authenticating into Allowlists

Tokenproof may be used to authenticate users where ownership of certain tokens is required in order to be included in an allowlist for a new project's mint.

Claiming a Benefit or Discount in E-Commerce

We believe that e-commerce brands will soon offer exclusive benefits to holders of certain tokens or NFTs. Whether they create their own token for this purpose, or offer the benefit to holders of third-party tokens, tokenproof can be used to facilitate verification of eligibility.
