Offline Use Cases

We believe that in the near future, there will be a convergence between the online and offline worlds, where the use of NFTs will be ubiquitous in daily life. As such, it's important to have a mechanism that allows individuals to securely and easily prove token ownership, while preserving the safety and privacy of the token-holder and their digital assets.
Offline adoption of tokenproof will start at crypto/NFT-focused events and conferences; however, we believe that traditional brands entering the space will quickly want to provide exclusive benefits to audiences and customers holding their tokens, such as at retail shops or physical events.
From a marketing perspective, one could also see third-parties validating that someone owns a particular set of tokens as a way to segment their customer base. The transparency offered by the blockchain allows anyone to see the tokens held by an Ethereum account. These third parties will need simple and practical tools to perform such validations, while the consumer will need mechanisms to protect their privacy and real-life identity.
Our commitment to privacy recognizes the growing need to support an economy based on pseudonymous identity. When tokenproof is used to verify token-ownership, the Ethereum account is not disclosed to the verifier, preventing unintended correlation of real-life identity with the Ethereum address of the tokenproof holder.
Finally, we may see daily-life credentials becoming tokenized: A key to a building, a driver's license, a loyalty program membership, or a transportation ticket. The possibilities are endless, and we want to ensure that there is technology that supports this vision.
An event organizer may sell tickets to an event in the form of an NFT on the Ethereum network. Tokenproof enables the attendee to use his tokenproof wallet at the gate of the event, without requiring them to touch the Ethereum wallet where the actual tokenized ticket is held.
An organization such as a fitness club or a university may choose to tokenize credentials to be issued to its members. Tokenproof may be used to validate such membership while protecting the privacy of the member.
Similar to the previous example, tokenproof may be used by entities with a loyalty program, such as an airline or a restaurant chain. The membership could be tokenized, and tokenproof would facilitate the verification of such token by allowing the member to show a QR code on their mobile device.
We believe that retail establishments will soon offer exclusive benefits to holders of certain tokens or NFTs. Whether they create their own token for this purpose, or offer the benefit to holders of third-party tokens, tokenproof can be used to facilitate eligibility.
We envision a future where keys and passes to access physical spaces such as office buildings or hotels will be tokenized. Tokenproof will enable individuals to make use of these tokens in order to gain access to such spaces.
